It's suuuuper useful when I go caving especially, because if I die for whatever reason I don't have to figure out where exactly I died and pray my items don't despawn by the time I get there. Not to mention that sometimes if the cause of death was getting killed by mobs I often die on the way again, I'd rather not have to deal with that hassle.
